The term Baylor Bears is referred to the sports teams of University of Baylor. And the teams of men in the university are known as the Bears, and the women’s teams are referred as the Lady Bears. In NCAA Division 1 college baseball, the University of Baylor’s is represented by the Baylor Bears baseball team. This team belongs to the Big 12 Conference and all the home games are played at the Baylor Ballpark.

Big 12 conference has only one private school and its student athletes participates in the NCAA's Division I. before joining Big 12, Baylor was a member of the Southwest Conference from the conference's charter in 1914 until its disbanding in 1996. In the year 2004, the men’s tennis team of Baylor’s won its very first team title by defeating UCLA in the championship game. In the 2005 national championship the Baylor baseball sport team lost closely to UCLA.

At the Baylor Ballpark all the baseball home games are played by the team players. The ballpark was constructed in 1998 and was one of the best collegiate stadiums. It has a capacity of about 5,000 people; the retro-styled ballpark was replicated after Auburn's Plainsman Park, with a very similar design, but was smaller. The Baylor bears baseball team is led by the coach Steve Smith from the past Fifteen years.

The Baylor baseball sport is played in the similar manner as a normal baseball game. Baylor bears baseball is a bat-and-ball game which is played between two teams with nine players each. The objective of the game is to make runs by striking a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases prearranged at the curves of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players of the bating team take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team (the fielding team), which tries to stop them from making runs by getting strikers out in any of different ways. The teams swap between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn at bat for each team constitutes an inning; nine innings constitutes a professional game.
